Where we provide quality invisible mending for your fine clothing and precious mementos. We specialize in several different techniques depending on the item you have.
For fine woven woolens we can offer either an inweave or a thread weave:
Thread weaves are best suited for very tiny holes and the process involves replacing each broken thread with new threads.
Inweaving involves larger damage and requires a piece of cloth to do the repair. This repair is only possible if you either have an extra piece of the fabric or if we can find a hidden area on the item with which to remove the piece. This is often inside the cuff of a pair of pants, or a pocket in a jacket. After finding a piece that matches the damaged area, we unravel the edges and carefully match the pattern, weaving in the ends to apply the piece to the cloth. Afterward, we carefully anchor the new piece to the original using a fine monofilament thread with an invisible stitching method. This makes the new repair strong.
For knits, we offer repairs and alterations:
We can fix moth holes and other small damage. We also offer other possible repairs, such as leather patches on the elbows of worn sweaters.
We are able to do some alterations to sweaters, We can shorten a turtle neck to a crew neck, or shorten the length of the body or cuffs. Some sweaters can also be taken in but this is on a case-to-case basis.
We require all items to be cleaned before sending them to us. We do not work on soiled pieces of clothing.
